Annual Writing Contest

Every year, Blanchard Memorial School sixth-grade students are invited to compose an original poem or essay, based on a chosen conservation theme. Themes from past years have included animal habitat, the importance of recycling, and recognition of Boxborough’s agricultural history. Here’s a list of past topics: Blanchard School Contests Summary_2020.

BCTrust awards a first, second, and third place, as well as several honorable mentions. The award-winning works are framed and presented to the winning students during the Blanchard Memorial School Spring Assembly, and are published in the Common Ground newsletter. Like the BCTrust Annual Art Contest, the writing contest becomes a source of great pride for the students, their families, and the school.

To view winning entries from past years, see issues from 2006 and later of the BCTrust Newsletter, Common Ground.
